Anger

The Buddha said the following:

"Let go of anger. Let go of pride. When you are bound by nothing You go beyond sorrow. Anger is like a chariot careening wildly. He who curbs his anger is the true charioteer.Others merely hold the reins. With gentleness overcome anger. With generosity overcome meanness. With truth overcome deceit.Speak the truth.Give whenever you can. Never be angry. These three steps will lead you into the presence of the gods."

I bring this up because the other day I was out playing with our two dogs in the yard. I was standing in a place where the dog usually urinates. I have seen him urinate there before. It never crossed my mind that by standing there he would ever do his tinkle on me.

He did. I was suprised by the warm liquid stimuli but I was not the least bit angry. I just washed my pants off. No harm done. I learned not to stand on this one spot when the dogs are playing.

There is a saying in the small town I come from: "Better pissed off than pissed on."

In keeping with the spirit of the Buddha I say,

"Better pissed on than pissed off."
